Statement of Faith

We Philadelphia Assembly of God Church in Calgary believe that:

The Bible is the inspired and only infallible and authoritative word of God

(2 Tim. 3:16; 1 Pet. 1: 23-25).

There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: God the Father, God the son, And God the Holy Spirit. (Matt. 28:19; 1 John 5:7).

In the deity our Lord Jesus Christ (John 1:1, 14; Phil.2:5-11; Col.2:9) , In His virgin birth (Luke 1:34-35) , In His sinless life (2 Cor. 5:21; 1 John 3:5), in His miracles (Matt. 4:23) , In His Vicarious and atoning death (Col. 1:14,20 ; Eph. 1:7 ; Rom. 5:8,9) , in His bodily resurrection (1 Cor.15:3,4 ; Rev. 1:17,18) , in His ascension to the right hand of the Father (Acts 2: 30- 33 ; 1 Pet. 3:22) , and in His personal , future return to this earth in power and glory to rule over the nations (Acts 1:11; 1 Thes. 1:10; 4:14-18).

The only means of being forgiven and cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom. 3:23-26; Eph. 2:8; Acts 4:12).

Repentance by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation (John 3:3-8; 1 Pet. 1:22, 2Cor. 5:17).

In water baptism by immersion (Matt. 28:19, Acts 2:38-41; 10:47, 48).

The Baptism in the Holy Spirit is an experience available to all believers. It is distinct from Salvation and is given to empower the Christian for a life of witness and service. This endowment of power includes the bestowment of gifts, ministries and spiritual manifestations to  be used in the work of the ministry (Matt. 3:11; Mark 1:8 ;John 14: 16; Acts 1:4-8;Acts 2: 1718;  10:44-46; 1 Cor. 2: 4,5 ; 12:4-11).

In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit to enable a believer to live a holy life (Eph. 5:27; Col. 1:22, 1Pet. 1: 15, 16).

Divine healing for the human body (Mark16:17, 18; 1 Pet.2:24; Isa. 53:5; Matt. 8:17).

In the resurrection of all humanity; the saved to everlasting life and the lost to everlasting damnation  ( John 5:28,29 ; 2Thes. 1:2-10 ; Rev. 20: 1-15).
